How to hire a criminal defense
lawyer.
Jamie L. Harmon
Jamie L. Harmon is the lead attorney and founder of
Harmon & Associates. Throughout her life, she was focused on a career
as a criminal defense attorney, deciding to become a lawyer at the ripe
old age of eight. Her entire education has been directed toward that
goal. As an undergraduate in the seventies, Jamie worked with the
Psychiatric Security Review Board for the Oregon State Corrections
Department, drafting legislation concerning treatment of mentally
disordered criminal offenders in that state. The law she worked to
promote remains in effect today. Jamie graduated from Santa Clara University
School of Law in 1983, and worked for four years as a criminal defense
lawyer for a prominent local attorney. Subsequently, she was recruited
and hired by the Santa Clara County District Attorney's Office, where she
remained for the next 14 years in a variety of trial and administrative
positions. Eventually, after having gained an insider's perspective into
the workings of the prosecutor's office, Jamie sought a way to bring her
passion for justice to work for in the private sector. She worked for
about a year at the Law Offices of Dennis Alan Lempert, and opened Harmon
& Associates in January 2000.
Jamie is an inspiring trial lawyer, and brings insight,
compassion and energy to the work she does for our clients. She is
passionate, committed, and fearless. Juries love her, clients love her -
and the court and prosecutors respect her.
In her spare time, Jamie devotes herself to sharing time
with her two daughters, going on outings, teaching them to horseback
ride, traveling, and passing on her love of reading.

Ben Koller
Benedict Koller has over 20 years of experience as a
criminal defense attorney.
Prior to joining Harmon & Associates Ben was successful in
running his own South Bay law firm.
Currently Ben makes the lion's share of procedural appearances for
the firm and can be found in various Bay Area courthouses any day of the
week.
Theodore Stalcup
Our newest attorney, Theodore "Ted" Stalcup comes to us
from the Supreme Court of Nevada where he was an appellate law clerk. Currently Ted is drafting the
majority of our motions and appeals. Ted has extensive experience with problem-solving
courts, such as drug and mental health courts, and is the co-author, with
Judge Peggy Hora, of a forthcoming treatise on the drug court
movement. Ted has practiced
juvenile criminal defense and has worked in Family Law in both California
and Nevada. Ted is a cum
laude graduate of the William S. Boyd
School of Law in Nevada.
Christina Guijarro
Christina is our Office Manager. Our attorneys require
assistance and attention to detail in order to effectively and
aggressively defend our clients. Christina is an administrative genius,
who ensures a smooth progression for each client and every case through
the system. She generally knows as much about every aspect of every case
as do the lawyers, and is available to assist our clients by phone when
the attorneys are attending to the demands of their court schedule.
Christina also brings an unusual perspective to our team; she is a mother
of three, and her husband was our client. Her experience gives her the
ability to reassure our clients and to share her strength, hope and
expertise about what happens to them during this challenging time in
their lives. She also has the daunting task of keeping our staff
(including the attorneys!) in check with her no-nonsense, tough love
approach.
Peggy Valdez and Monica Orozco
Most often, the vibrant greeting you hear on the other
end of the phone when you call Harmon & Associates is the voice of one
of our legal assistants, Peggy or Monica. Peggy and Monica will begin your relationship with
Harmon & Associates by taking down the basic information that will
help one of our attorneys when they review your case. For existing clients, Peggy and
Monica keep our attorneys focused and on task so that no aspect of your
case is ever overlooked.
